Is Atlas Earth Down? (again...)

Happy 50x BOOST DAY! With election day upon us, Atlas Earth has partnered with TurboVote to get their 1,000,000+ users registered to vote. As expecting, and almost like clockwork, the surge of traffic to take advantage of the 5,000% boost in parcel rent caused Atlas Earth's servers to be stressed to the point to temporary failure.

You way be thinking that it would be odd that a 20% increase would cause a huge rush of users to revisit the app. However, when you look at the boosted rates for individuals the own over 150 parcels, we can see that the boosted % drops from 30% down to 20%. As we can see from the below graphic, your boost percentage significantly decreases as you purchase more parcels from 30x to only 2x.

Math Time! For the purposes of conducting some simple math, we are going to use the parcel amount of 1,000. We will assume that every parcel is a common parcel which pays out at a rate of .0000000011 per second. When boosted, the rent of 1,000 properties will boost at 4x.

4x BOOSTED:

Rent per second: 1,000 x .0000000011 = $.0000011

Rent per second, boosted: .0000011 x 300% = $.0000033

Rent per minute, boosted: .0000033 x 60 = $.000198

Rent per hour, boosted: .000198 x 60 = $.01188

Rent per day, boosted: .01188 x 24 = $.28512

50x BOOSTED:

Rent per second: 1,000 x .0000000011 = $.0000011

Rent per second, boosted: .0000011 x 4,900% = $.0000539

Rent per minute, boosted: .0000539 x 60 = $.003234

Rent per hour, boosted: .003234 x 60 = $.19404

Rent per day, boosted: .19404 x 24 = $4.65696

If you own 1,000 properties, you daily rent income would increase from .28512 to a staggering $4.65696. During the 50x boosted events, there is a huge incentive to make sure that your parcels remain boosted. This drives those 1,000,000+ users back to the app every few hours on a consistent basis.

As unfortunate as it may be that there are server downtime, Atlas Earth is not ignorant to the fact that downtime impacts a user's ability to take advantage of the 50x boosted event. To their credit, Atlas Earth has recognized that downtime is an issue and continues to extend their events to help make up for lost time. Additionally, it is of my own opinion that the engineers working on server maintenance of app are doing a great job with keeping things running smoothly. Atlas Earth's team continues to work towards keeping downtime as short a period as possible and have provided plenty of social media posts communicating the status of their progress.
